Winter Break is coming up!

During Thursday 20th and Friday 21st of February there is a winter break in the elementary schools of Hafnarfjörður. The swimming pools in Hafnarfjörður (Ásvallalaug, Suðurbæjarlaug and Sundhöll Hafnarfjarðar) are open and free for admission for both children and adults during these two days.

NOTE - closure of pools in Ásvallalaug. 16 m classroom pool, quay pool and slides in Ásvallalaug will be closed from Tuesday, February 18 to Friday, February 21 for maintenance and repairs reasons. Thank you for your understanding.

Hafnarborg (Strandgata 34) welcomes children to participate in fun and creative art workshops at the museum from 13-15 on both days. The workshops are free of charge but please note that children should be accompanied by adults.

Hafnarfjörður Library (Strandgata 1) invites children and families to watch book based movies and crafts.

Hafnarfjörður Museum (Vesturgata 6) welcomes all children in Hafnarfjörður and their families during the winter break. Pakkhúsið (Vesturgata 6) offers families to participate in a fun and informative orienteering game that leads the guests through the museum and on Friday the 21st at 13, children will get their own guided tour through the museum. Free addmission.

Wednesday, February 19th

Blær Guðmundsdóttir and Hjalti Halldórsson read their newly published books

KL. 14:30-16:30 Book based movie at Hafnarfjörður Library.
Fíasól will be shown in Icelandic.

Thursday, February 20th

KL. 13 Book based movie at Hafnarfjörður Library.
The film "Thor: legends of Valhalla" will be shown in Icelandic.

Kl. 13-15 Art-Workskop at Hafnarborg with light, shapes and photosensitive paper.

Saturday, February 22nd

Kl. 12-14 Bun-Day-Wand crafting at Hafnarfjörður Library
Children decorate a short stick with made colorful paper and then use this "bolludagsvöndur" (bun-day wand) to spank their parents and other grown-ups, while crying "bolla, bolla, bolla!" ("bun, bun, bun") for the peculiar Icelandic holiday "bolludagur" (Cream Bun Day) on Monday 24th. In exchange for the whacking the grown-ups are expected to award the children with a sweet cream buns, filled with jam and topped with delicious chocolate.

Sunday, February 23rd
