Support for children´s recreational activities

18. Nov 2020

The Icelandic government's measures in response to the Covid19 pandemic include support for children's recreational activities. This support is granted to the families of children born 2005-2014, living in homes where the average income of supporters, individuals, married or in registered partnership, was lower than 740.000 ISK per month between March and July 2020.

The support is 45.000 ISK for each child.

This measure will be implemented by local authorities and families will apply to them for increased support, but before an application is submitted applicants need to check if they're eligible by logging in on Islands.is with their electronic certificates. Please note that in the case of married couples or in registered partnership, both partners must approve that information about their income can be fetched from Iceland Revenue and Customs to verify their eligibility. If the reply confirms right to apply for support further information about the next steps will be given. If not eligible information on where to send your enquires regarding the measure will be given.  Check your right

Grants will be paid for paid out costs for sports and leisure activities during 2020-2021 school year. Sports and leisure activity grants may not be used for the payment of equipment, tools, clothing and travel. All applications must be submitted before 1 March 2021.
