Registration has been opened for after-school centers for the school year 2022-2023. The after-school centers in Hafnarfjörður are intended for children in the 1st to 4th grade and are operated in all primary schools in Hafnarfjörður. The role of after-school centres is to offer diverse leisure activities for students after the traditional school day. The work is based on choice, group work, workshops and outdoor activities. The aim of the after-school centres is that each child can flourish and develop in an environment characterised by warmth, security and respect.
Hafnarfjörður's family gardens are open to all residents and it is a great opportunity for families and individuals in Hafnarfjörður to grow their own vegetables, take care of it and harvest vegetables this summer. The vegetable gardens will be open at Víðistaðir and at Öldugata. The cost for one garden is ISK 1.579.- and for two gardens ISK. 2.632- Seedlings, seeds or other materials for cultivation are not included, but access to water and some small tools will be available. The gardens will be ploughed and will be allocated at the end of May.
The voter list in Hafnarfjörður for the municipal elections on 14 May 2022 is on public display in Hafnarfjörður Town Hall, service center, Strandgata 6, from 22 April 2022. Voters are encouraged to find out if their names are on the voter list.
The joint venture "Safe Housing for Everyone" was launched last October by the Housing and Construction Authority (HMS), the Icelandic Confederation of Labour (ASI) and the Capital Region Fire Brigade (SHS), with the aim of mapping dwellings in commercial properties for fire prevention purposes. The capital region was the first area to be mapped, the details of which were published in a report.
