At this time, Hafnarborg is working on a retrospective of works by artist Þorvaldur Þorsteinsson (1960-2013), called Long Are the Trials of Man. At this exhibition, one of the artist‘s works, Images of Mary will be recreated, but Þorvaldur first exhibited said work at a show in the Akureyri Art Museum in 1996. The upcoming exhibition at Hafnarborg is set to open on Þorvaldur‘s birthday, November 7th.
In the spring of 2021, the team Einherji decided to start with the task of holding an American football tournament for the first time in Iceland for the age group 13-17. With support from Hafnarfjarðarbær the organizers were able to visit all the older classes in the town's primary schools, introduce the sport to interested young people and allow them to try it out. In the autumn of 2021, younger groups will also be introduced
The electoral roll in Hafnarfjörður for the parliamentary elections on 25 September 2021 is on display in the service center in Hafnarfjörður Town Hall at Strandgata 6 from 8-16. The electoral roll will be on display every working day from 15 September 2021 until and including Friday 24 September.
This September the second dose of COVID-19 vaccination will be offered to children aged 12 to 15 years. A guardian who requests vaccination for their child must accompany the child to the vaccination or send a substitute aged 18 or older with a letter of proxy. Children in 7th grade who turn 12 years old after 1 September will be offered vaccination later this autumn.
All individuals with legal residence in Iceland, born 2002 and earlier, can receive a 5,000 kr. Travel Gift. The gift is a part of supporting Icelandic tourism following the COVID-19 epidemic, and encourage residents to have quality times while traveling domestically. The travel gift 2021 is valid from the date of issue until 30 September.
